The Normal Route is, technically speaking, a high altitude walk.

Here, the challenge is set by the combination of the altitude, low temperatures, dry climate, hi winds, and severe weather conditions, when the summer storms sweep by.

This route is ideal for a beginner to intermediate climber who want to test and improve high altitude skills

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival to Mendoza.

Day 2: Travel from Hotel in Mendoza to Hotel in Penitentes. Lunch in Valle Uspallata (en route to Penitentes)

Day 3: Shuttle from Penitentes to the entrance of Aconcagua Provincial Park (Laguna Horcones). Hike to Confluencia

Day 4: Hike from Confluencia to Plaza Francia, base camp for the South Face of Aconcagua.

Day 5: Hike from Confluencia to Plaza de Mulas Base Camp

Day 6: Rest day in Plaza de Mulas

Day 7: Load carry to Plaza Canada and return to base camp.

Day 8: Rest day in Plaza de Mulas.

Day 9: Climb from Plaza de Mulas to Plaza Canada

Day 10: Climb from Plaza Canada to Nido de Condores

Day 11: Climb from Nido de Condores to Berlin

Day 12: Summit bid of Mt. Aconcagua , Normal Route .

Day 13: Extra summit day in case of bad weather.

Day 14: Descent from Berlin to Plaza de Mulas Base Camp

Day 15: Hike back from base camp to Laguna de Horcones. Penitentes

Day 16: Travel from Penitentes to Mendoza. Rafting on the way back to Mendoza. Lodging in Hotel. Farewell Dinner at Familia Zuccardi Winery

Land Cost includes:

  • Mules for the transport of equipment from Puente del Inca to Plaza de Mulas and back. Limit of 30 Kg.
  • Food and drinks in Confluencia, two (2) nights in total; including state-of-the-art Geodesic Domes (as featured in the National Geographic Adventure Magazine) with real beds, carpeted floors, heating system, hot shower, and a toilet seat bathroom (not latrines!). Our camps also have solar energy system, VHF and BLU communications, and our meals are prepared following strict standards of hygiene and contain high nutritional value. They assure the right amount of carbohydrates and protein, everything the body needs to perform at high altitude, yet easy to digest. We also cater to vegetarians upon request.
  • Food, drinks and base camp service in Plaza de Mulas, with a limit of up to four (4) nights. Includes: private mess tent with tables and seats, all necesary dishes, served meals, cook, equipment storage tent for use while group is at the higher camps, electric lights, permanent radio communication, toilet tent.
  • Altitude Camps includes four season tents, stoves, cookware and dishes.
  • All necessary food for the high camps.
  • All fully certified High altitude mountain guide and assistants (depending on the size of the group).
  • Radio for permanent communication between base camp, Mendoza and Puente del Inca to be able to coordinate different logistical issues, reservations and. when necessary, rescues or evacuations.
  • Guides are equipped with a mountain first aid kit and Oximeters.
  • Gamow Bag at base camp.

Land Cost does not include:

  • Airfare and airport taxes to and from Mendoza . Bus tickets to and from Mendoza .
  • Climbing permits to Aconcagua Park .
  • Food and drink not mentioned in Itinerary.
  • Personal porters.
  • Individual gear.
  • Extra costs as a result of abandoning of the expedition.
  • Medical or traveler's insurance. Costs as a result of an emergency rescue.
