This route is more technical than the NW Route. The approximation to Plaza Argentina BC through the scenic and less transited Vacas Valley, plus the high altitude mixed climb of ice and rock, makes this intermediate/advanced route a classic in international mountaineering.

Day 1
Arrival to Mendoza.

Day 2
Travel from hotel in Mendoza to hotel in Penitentes. Lunch in Valle Uspallata (en route to Penitentes)

Day 3
Shuttle from Penitentes to the entrance of Aconcagua Provincial Park (Valle de las Vacas). Hike to Pampa de Las Leñas.

Day 4
Hike from Pampa de Las Leñas to Casa de Piedra.

Day 5
Hike from Casa de Piedra to Plaza Argentina Base Camp.

Day 6
Rest day at Plaza Argentina.

Day 7
Load carry to Camp 1 and pass the night.

Day 8
Load carry to Camp 2. Descend to base camp.

Day 9
Rest day at Plaza Argentina.

Day 10
Climb to Camp 1.

Day 11
Climb to Camp 2

Day 12
Summit bid up Mt. Aconcagua, Polish Glacier Route

Day 13
Extra summit day in case of bad weather.

Day 14
Descent from Camp 2 to Plaza Argentina Base Camp.

Return hike from base camp to Pampa de Leñas.

Hike from Pampa de Leñas to Punta de Vacas. Shuttle to the hotel in Penitentes.

Transportation from Penitentes to Mendoza. Rafting on the way back to Mendoza. Hotel. Farewell Dinner at Familia Zuccardi Winery

  • Food, drinks and base camp service in Plaza Argentina, with a limit of up to five (5) nights. Includes: private mess tent with tables and seats, all necesary dishes, served meals, cook, and equipment, storage tent for use while group is at the higher camps, electric lights, permanent radio communication, toilet tent.
  • Altitude Camps includes four season tents, stoves, cookware and dishes.
